Fair Trade Coffee

Fair Trade – a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, which seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers. Fair trade organizations (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade.

Fair Trade started over 50 years ago in Africa and Europe but not until the past few years has the general public become conscious of its effects and therefore made efforts to support Fair Trade as a whole. At TechTown Café we are proud to offer our customers a variety of Organic and Fair Trade Coffees and Teas which benefit everyone from the farmer to the consumer. Fair Trade is being promoted by consumer groups not just as a nice alternative, but as THE way to do business for the future of global trade.

Organic – Organic coffee is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic farmers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production.
